• Our hot water and central heating are powered by our ground source heat pump, solar panels, and fire.
• All our rubbish collected on site is sorted externally to separate the recycling.
• We stock local products in our gift shop and aim to continue to increase the local products we stock.
• We harvest rainwater and use this to water our lavender plants and herbs.
• Our poly tunnel and green tunnel mean we can propagate and grow plants on site.
• We do not use pesticides on our farm.
• Half-flush toilets save water wherever possible.

• Our aim is to engage people of all ages and abilities with the beautiful nature of our unique Yorkshire Wolds. Woldie Willow, our guardian of the Wolds, helps to inspire people to find out more and follow Woldie Willows way to protect wildlife at home.
• We have a giant observation bee hive where honey bees can be seen at work when the conditions are right. Our local bee keeper manages the bees that provide our lavender honey. We also provide bee nesting sites around our farm for solitary and bumble bees and are lucky to be visited by rarer species.
• Butterflies love our lavender, we now have a butterfly garden with specialist planting to provide, food and nesting sites. Our butterfly count with Woldie Willow helps us keep track of visiting butterflies and look out for rarer species.
• We have many bird boxes on our farm of differing sizes and are lucky to find a variety of birds nesting with us every year, including robins, pied wagtails, goldfinches, chaffinches, wrens, song thrush, blackbirds, partridge and more. We hear and see the owls and buzzards that live nearby.
• We provide bird feeders year round, from our bird observation hide lets you see different birds feeding.
• At dusk bats can be seen swooping over the lavender fields catching flies. Bat boxes provide essential nesting sites.
• Our hedgehog houses are hidden away providing much needed shelter.
• Frogs and newts visit us every year, frog spawn and tadpoles are in abundance in spring.

• Lavender and nature go hand in hand in our own mini ecosystem on our farm. Our trees, lavender, wildflowers and other plants provide shelter, food, and nesting sites and in return the wildlife help the plants thrive with natural pest control, pollination, soil cultivation, seed dispersal and more.
• We have over a 100 of varieties of lavender and herbs, loved by the many varieties of bees, butterflies, insects, birds and other mammals that live or visit here.
• Over 20,000 evergreen and deciduous trees and hedges have been planted throughout our farm providing vital habitats.
• We have planted a 2 acres wildflower meadow and a variety of flowers around the woodland walk and farm.
• We use wildflower and grass strips to provide habitat for insects and other arthropods to allow natural pest management.
• We have built 3 large ponds providing a habitat for animals, plants and insects.
• Our 2 acre living willow maze is a giant bug hotel! They love the trees but also the old, dead wood that we collect at the bottom of each wall in the maze. We also have specialist bug hotels and sites of undisturbed dead wood.

• To extract our lavender oil we use the traditional process of steam fired distillation. All our lavender oil is produced on our farm from plants grown on our farm. We are proud of the high quality oil we produce. All our lavender products contain only our lavender oil meaning they naturally smell amazing and also provide the many natural benefits of lavender.
• We use wood coppiced on site as fuel for the still.
• The water used in the distillation cooling process comes from and goes back into our cooling ponds – our big fish love the warmer water!
• There is no waste from our distillation process. We collect the lavender water (hydrolat) that separates from the lavender oil. We also use the spent lavender plants, once the oil has been extracted) as a mulch for our trees. This helps them to grow by controlling the weeds and retaining water, it also provides animal habitats.
• Our specially adapted tractor harvester cuts and collects our lavender making sure not to waste any and giving the plants a good cut to ensure they stay healthy for longer.
• The packaging of our products is recyclable, this includes the bottles and boxes (local recycling strategies may vary).
• Products are bottled by hand on our farm.
